learn which elementary, middle and
high school is in your attendance
area.
How do I register my child for
school?
For your convenience, registration
is available at the Central
Registration Office, located at 167
Werz Industrial Drive,
Newnan, GA 30263 (view
map).
Registration is not available at the
schools. Please contact the
Central
Registration Center at 770-254-5551.
Registration Requirements:
Who may register the student?
The biological or adoptive parent
should enroll the student. If the
student is not living with the
biological or adoptive parent, a
temporary guardianship form must be
obtained from the Probate Court or
the guardian must have a court order
to allow the student to register. A
photo ID will be required for
parents and guardians.
Residency:
To enroll in Coweta County Schools,
the student's parent or legal
guardian AND the student must be a
full-time resident of Coweta
County.
Coweta County Schools must have ALL
REQUIRED documents upon registration
for students to be registered and to
receive a schedule.

Registration Documents:
To enroll in a Georgia public
school, Pre-K students must be 4
years old by September 1st;
Kindergarten students must be 5
years old by September 1st; and
First Grade students must be 6 years
old by September 1st.
To register a child in Coweta County
Schools for the first time, the
following documentation is required:
1.
Birth Certificate –
State-issued, certified copy
(hospital certificate not accepted).
2.
Social Security Card
3.
Proof of Residence – two
items from the following list are
required for address verification:
a.
property tax records which indicate
the location of the residence;
b.
mortgage documents or a security
deed which indicates the location of
the residence;
c.
apartment or home lease or rent
receipt indicating the current
address;
d.
current electrical bill or
application for electrical service
showing the current address (please
bring the entire bill, to show
electrical service and address);
e.
voter precinct identification card
or other voter documentation
indicating the current address.
4.
State ID or Drivers License
– Must be current (not expired).
Students may only be registered by
biological parent(s) or legal
guardian(s). Proof of
custody/guardianship is required if
registering adult is not the
birth parent.
5.
Custody papers (if relevant)
- If parents are divorced they must
provide a copy of custody
papers. Legal guardian(s) will also
have to provide a copy of custody
papers. Custodial parent(s)/guardian(s)
must live in the appropriate school
district.
6.
Last Report
Card/Withdrawal/Transfer Form with
Grades
– Due at registration to facilitate
records requests and class
placement.
7.
Immunization Certificate
– Georgia Department of Human
Resources (DHR) immunization
certificate form 3231 or a signed
30-day waiver.
8.
Hearing-Dental-Vision
Certificate
on Georgia Form 3300 or a signed
120-day waiver.
9.
Authorization for release of
IEP or records –
If a student is receiving Special
Education or Gifted
services. If IEP or eligibility for
services is not presented at the
time of registration, services will
be delayed until these
records are received by the school.
10.
Emergency contact information
– Students must have a contact on
file by the first day of
school.
* The first eight (8) of the above
requirements must be presented at
the time of registration *
Immunization and
Hearing-Dental-Vision certificates
can be obtained from the Coweta
County Health Department
(770-254-7400) or from a family
physician. Students transferring
from another Georgia school should
already have the certificates
available from their previous
school. Waivers may be requested
during registration, but students
may be withdrawn if certificates are
not filed by the end of the waiver
period.

Do the elementary schools in Coweta
County have Pre-K classes?
A number of private kindergartens
and day care centers in Coweta
County provide the state-funded
Pre-K classes as well as eight of
the public schools in the system.
Information on these sites can be
found at the Office of School
Readiness website. If
there are vacancies after all
eligible students in the schools’
attendance zones have had an
opportunity to register for the
program, students residing in any
Coweta County area will be
considered for admission. Admission
to the Pre-K program is on a
first-come, first-served basis.
Classes are limited to 20 students
each.

What
are school hours?
Elementary school hours: 8:00am to
2:30pm
Middle school hours: 8:15am to
3:30pm
High school hours: 8:20am to 3:30pm

Where can I find a ranking of the
schools?
The Georgia Department of Education
publishes Report Cards on all the
schools and school districts in
Georgia. The Report Card is
available on-line at the Georgia
Department of Education web site. In
addition, each school has copies of
its own Report Card for Parents,
which is also compiled by the
Georgia Department of Education.
